Team Mates drawn by Ricky!

Wow! Hoilday Special 1984

Heres Team Mates not drawn by Tom Paterson But by an artist called Ricky!!

I wonder who Ricky was?...he did a pretty good job..But no one can touch Tom of course..

The Wow Holiday Special was very good by the way...I'll show another one off artist soon from the same issue... the Creepy Comix Game..

Who drew this Bumpkin Billionaires? Answer Mervyn Johnston

Whizzer and Chips Holiday Special 1990.
Mike Lacey and Jim Hanson normally drew the Bumpkin Billionaires..who have a good normal rounded fun style..so it is stranjge seeing the Bumpkins in this wacky style..

I'll be touching on artists who drew characters that they didn't normally draw..as they can be interesting to see and its fun trying to work out the artist and what weird styles they used!!

This does look a bit like Spy's work!!!

UPDATE looking at it again I'm pretty sure that it is drawn by Melvin..

Andy B tells me from comicsuk forum its
Mervyn Johnston
Thanks Andy..

Mervyn also drew Buster's Captain Crucial after Tom Paterson left Fleetway.

Sir Laughalot from Topper

5th Sept 1970 Topper this is a reprint from the early 60's. It was drawn by Ken Hunter. As you can see there are lots of gaps in the artwork and the speech bubbles look added on.

This is how it should look like with rhyming couplets which is much better. So shame they changed it in the reprint.

From Topper 1960 annual. I do like the fantasy of the strip.

George Martin's Super Specs Topper Book 1974

Topper Book 1974.

A new George Martin character for me as I've recently bought this book..

I like this concept very clever...I wonder if this character was in the comic?

George Martin and Bill Holroyd(Brassneck)are the Kings of UK comic slapstick!

The Broons and Oor Wullie in colour and Wee Jock Sparra

Drawn by Ken Harrison who also drew other Dudley D Watkin's characters like Lord Snooty and Desperate Dan. Here is what it looked like for a short time in colour in the Sunday Post. Which I think it suits it well..

Heres a new Bill Ritchie character I havn't seen before and what good fun it is...
reminds me of his other bird character Dicky Burd in the Beezer of the early 70's.

Thanks to stevezodiac for the images...

Just to fill in a few details.
THe Broons and Oor Wullie strips remained in colour until Sunday Post dated 7th Aug
1994 which was also the last time they appeared in something titled the 'Fun Section'.
(The original tear out a page and fold it 4pg Fun Section had last appeared on 28th Aug 1988).
Bill Ritchie's 'Wee Jock Sparra' appeared in the Fun Section from 12th Dec 1991 to 16th May 1993.
BTW in its 48 year history the Sunday Post Fun Section, besides the Broons and Oor Wullie, featured over 40 other strips not including the time in the late 1970's when it ran reprints of strips from other Thomson titles inc Desperate Dan and Toots from Bunty.
Thanks to Kashgar for the info..
